WHEW! Traveling to Costa Rica has been quite headache-inducing. First, our flight was delayed to just late enough that we would miss our connection, but following that, there was an issue with one of our passports and we had to rush (like REALLY rush) to get a new one. We then flew from NYC to Atlanta for an overnight layover. I wasn’t too excited at first (we missed an entire day of our trip), but the layover ended up being amazing. 🙌🏻 We were able to meet, and spend the day with, my incredible friend who showed us around Atlanta. We ate at the classic Mary Mac’s Tea Room and then stopped in Martin Luther King Jrs’ town. It was inspiring to see the area where MLK grew up, as well as his final resting place, which is just a block or so away. This was not a planned stop, but I am so happy it happened the way it did. ❤️❤️❤️ Remember to not fret and always make the best of where you are.
Valentine’s Day may be over, but don’t forget to surround yourself with love everyday. You have to love, respect, and honor yourself first and foremost . Remember, you are perfect just the way you are. ❤️🤗
Love is in the air! ❤️ Celebrated Valentine’s Day with the love of my life by having a romantic dinner at @figandolive, which is one of our favorite restaurants. Hope that your Valentine’s Day was filled with love and warmth! 🤗
SO EXCITED! 😄I will be walking in the #MeToo@NYFW show tomorrow evening! This fashion show is an example of how art can be used to illustrate suffering as well as the strength of the human spirit. Women should not be made to live in fear of harassment, assault, or sharing their stories. Hey, #timesup, it truly is! ⏱
Vegas was SO much fun! We stopped at Hofbrauhaus for dinner and I got a beer that was bigger than my head. It was a serious workout to pick it up to drink. Now, that’s my type of exercise! 🍺
Have you ever eaten or got a drink at Hofbrauhuas?
It’s amazing how such a simple item can become special. I received this card over the holidays from my Aunt Hildegarde and not much more than a month later she has passed on. I will carry this message with me always. ❤️ Life can end so fast and so unexpectedly ... don’t forget to LIVE IT! Have a dream? Chase it. Want that piece of cake? Eat it. Think that other person is interesting? Talk to them. Don’t just be alive, LIVE every single day. 🙌🏻
Yesterday my dear Aunt Hildegarde (woman on the far left) was laid to rest. She was such a strong, passionate woman and truly someone to look up to. There’s a lot we could learn from her. For example, she always sent handwritten cards with a heartfelt message and decorated them beautifully. Not only that, she sent me a thank you card for sending her a Christmas card. It is now one of my most prized possessions. Rest In Peace, Aunt Hildegarde. 💖
Absolutely loved speaking at the @lasairport! The team here is incredible and we had an amazing turnout. Thank you for wanting to learn more about how to prevent and stop human trafficking. Traffickers often use the speed and convenience of air travel to transport their victims. Airport employees, pilots, and flight attendants have the ability to save so many lives. Thank you all for choosing to make a difference! 💕
Nevada is absolutely gorgeous from 30,000 feet in the air! ✈️ I am so excited to present to air and ground personnel at @lasairport. It’s such an honor to be here to share my story and train them to recognize and report human trafficking. Together, we WILL make a difference!
I was honored to @Skype with @bbcnews to discuss the terrible case out of Perris, California. To be interviewed, I was required to wake up at 3:30 AM (due to the time difference). I was horribly sick with the flu and thought I might not be able to make. Thankfully, I powered through and was able to get through it with minimal coughing. 🙂 I am always grateful to have the opportunity to share my unique experience and expertise in order to help others.
BIG boo, I caught the flu!
The flu this year is no joke. In fact, I felt so sick that I slept all day, every day, for nearly a week. Thankfully, today, I am back to the land of the living. Yay! However, I still don’t feel quite like myself. I always say that sometimes courage and bravery can be as simple as making yourself a cup of tea. Well, that’s exactly what I did today and I am proud of myself for having the strength. Sometimes you have to celebrate the little things.
