Our next #Halloween reading rec: The Coffin Trail by Martin Edwards. And it’s the first in a nail-biting series…
Oxford historian Daniel Kind and his partner Miranda both want to escape to a new life. On impulse they buy a cottage in Brackdale, an idyllic valley in the Lake District. But though they hope to live the dream, the past soon catches up with them.
Tarn Cottage was once home to Barrie Gilpin, suspected of a savage murder. A young woman's body was found on the Sacrifice Stone, an ancient pagan site up on the fell, but Barrie died before he could be arrested. Daniel has personal reasons for becoming fascinated by the case and for believing in Barrie`s innocence. When the police launch a cold case review, Brackdale's skeletons begin to rattle and the lives of Daniel and DCI Hannah Scarlett become strangely entwined. Daniel and Hannah each find themselves risking their lives as they search for a ruthless murderer who is prepared to kill again to hide a shocking secret. .

Q: Most anticipated 2018 read?
Hello there! I just finished the second book in my own Halloween readathon ahah, I’m on a roll and it makes me so happy. This is Not a Test was really difficult to read, it’s raw and haunting and so sad! I gave it a 4/5 ⭐️ and I highly recommend it if you don’t mind reading about depressive and suicidal main characters, it can be a bit gory as well and the tone of the book is really sombre 😔 Now I think I’m going to read In the Shadow of Blackbirds 😊 what about you? Do you have a special Halloween TBR? And what are you currently reading?
"But Jim, now, he knows it happens, he watches for it happening, he sees it start, he sees it finish, he licks the wound he expected, and never asks why: he knows. He always knew. Someone knew before him, a long time ago, someone who had wolves for pets and lions for night conversants. Hell, Jim doesn’t know with his mind. But his body knows. And while Will’s putting a bandage on his latest scratch, Jim’s ducking, weaving, bouncing away from the knockout blow which must inevitably come." #oldfavorite#halloweenbooks#october#takealookinabook#rbradbury#jimnightshade
