Pic taken with #Iphone6s 10 years since Lamine Dieng died, choked by 8 French police. 10 years of struggle of his sister, Ramata leading, and of dozen of dozen of activists against police violences. I have been covering this injustice for years and Ramata as shown strength, resilience and dignity. Her and her family will not give up till justice is served. #NoJusticeNoPeace #LamineDieng #BlackLivesMatter #10ansLamineDieng
This pic taken with #iphone6s in the streets of #Haiti is an illustration of what should not be done with a country and a population: undermining is good sovereignty. The situation in Haiti is not just the result of his leaders, it is also the products of colonization and neo-liberal agenda. First, rice was imposed in food diet of people of Haiti, to the detriment of local cereals. Then, in the 70's while Haiti was producing its own rice for its own local consumption, deregulation of tarifs douaniers was imposed to Haiti by international organizations such as IMF and the World bank. This results on foreign rice, and mainly US subsidized rice, poured into Haitian market, a rice cheaper than the local one and against which local Haitian producers weren't able to fight against. Thus, the food sovereignty of Haiti vanished (it now imports all of it's rice), the former farmers lost their incomes, were forced to stop their production, lost their lands and where impoverished. A social nightmare.
